Placify isn’t just a personal tool — it’s also a great way to share recommendations and travel plans with friends, family, and travel companions. Whether you want to send a single place to a friend or share an entire route for an upcoming group trip, Placify makes it easy.
Sharing a single place
When you find a spot worth recommending, sharing it takes just a couple of taps:
- Open the place details screen for the place you want to share.
- Look for the Share button — it’s usually in the top-right corner or in the action menu.
- Tap Share, and the iOS share sheet will appear with all your usual sharing options: Messages, Mail, WhatsApp, AirDrop, and more.
- Choose how you want to send it. The recipient will receive a link they can open to see the place’s name, location, photos, and any notes you’ve added.
Sharing a route
Planning a group trip? Share your entire route so everyone knows the plan:
- Open the route you’ve created.
- Tap the Share option in the route’s action menu.
- Send the route link to your travel companions. They’ll be able to see all the stops, the mapped path between them, and details about each place.
What recipients see
When someone opens a shared place or route link, they’ll see a web-based preview that includes:
- The place name and location
- Photos you’ve attached
- Any notes or descriptions you’ve added
- The route path (for shared routes)
- An option to open the location in their own maps app for navigation
Recipients don’t need to have Placify installed to view shared content, though we hope they’ll be inspired to download it!
Privacy and control
- You choose what to share. Only the specific place or route you share is visible to recipients — they can’t see the rest of your personal map.
- Shares are read-only. Recipients can view the information but can’t edit your places or routes.
- Links can be revoked. If you no longer want a shared link to work, you can manage your shared links in the app settings.
Tips for sharing
- Share a route with your travel group before a trip so everyone knows the itinerary and can prepare.
- Send a curated collection of restaurant recommendations to a friend visiting a city you know well.
- Use sharing alongside the Reference feature to provide context about why you’re recommending a place.
