Once you’ve saved places and built your routes, the next step is actually getting there. Placify makes it simple to jump from your personal map to turn-by-turn navigation in your preferred maps app.
Opening directions from a place
From any place in Placify, getting directions is one tap away:
- Open the place details screen by tapping on any saved place.
- Find the address or location section.
- Tap the address. Placify will offer to open directions in your preferred navigation app.
- Choose Apple Maps or Google Maps — whichever you prefer.
If you have both apps installed, you’ll see both options. Your choice is remembered for future use, but you can always switch by tapping the other option.
Directions within a route
When you’re following a route, you can get directions to each stop individually:
- Open your route and view it on the map.
- Tap any stop along the route to see its details.
- Tap the address to open turn-by-turn navigation to that specific stop.
This lets you navigate from your current location to the first stop, then from stop to stop as you complete your route.
Choosing your preferred navigation app
Placify integrates with both Apple Maps and Google Maps, giving you flexibility depending on your needs:
- Apple Maps is built into iOS, works seamlessly with Apple Watch, and provides excellent integration with the rest of the Apple ecosystem.
- Google Maps offers extensive public transit directions, detailed business information, and offline map downloads (useful for international travel).
Both apps can open directly from Placify with the destination address pre-filled, so you’re one tap away from starting navigation.
Pro tip: Download offline maps
If you’re traveling to an area with spotty cell service, download offline maps in either Apple Maps or Google Maps before your trip. Placify will still be able to open directions to your saved places, and your navigation app will work without an internet connection. See our guide on using Placify offline for more tips.
