As your collection grows, you may accidentally save the same place more than once — perhaps you imported it from a photo and later from a link, or you added it manually not realizing it was already in your map. Rather than deleting one and losing its data, Placify’s merge feature lets you combine duplicate places into a single, richer entry.
How merging works
Merging takes two or more places and combines them into one. All the photos, tags, notes, and visit records from the source places are brought together in the merged result. Nothing is lost — the merged place simply becomes a more complete version of itself.
Step-by-step guide
- Open your place list from the main map or any view.
- Long-press on a place to enter selection mode.
- Tap to select all the places you want to merge together. You’ll see checkmarks appear on selected items.
- Once you’ve selected at least two places, look for the “Merge” option in the toolbar or menu that appears.
- Tap “Merge.” Placify will show you a preview of what the combined place will look like, including how many photos and tags will be brought together.
- Review the preview, then confirm the merge.
When to merge vs. when to delete
Use merge when both (or all) places represent the same real-world location and each has data worth keeping — photos on one, notes on the other, or different visit records across both.
Use delete when one place is a true duplicate with no unique data, or when the places are actually different locations that just look similar in name.
Tips
- Before merging, double-check that you’re combining the right places. The preview screen will show you exactly what data comes from each source.
- Merging is especially useful after importing places from multiple sources (photos + links + manual entries) that all point to the same spot.
