When you import a link into Placify — for example, a travel blog post that mentions multiple restaurants, or a listicle of the best cafés in a city — the app parses the page and attempts to identify places and their associated images. Understanding how this image assignment works will help you manage your imported content effectively.
How automatic assignment works
Placify analyzes the structure of the linked page to determine which images belong to which places:
- Proximity-based matching. Images that appear near a place’s name or description in the article are more likely to be assigned to that place.
- Alt text and captions. If images have descriptive alt text or captions that mention a place name, Placify uses that to make accurate assignments.
- Section grouping. Content within the same section or card on a page is treated as belonging together — so an image inside the same article section as a place description gets assigned to that place.
Why some assignments might surprise you
Link parsing is not always perfect. Some factors that can affect accuracy:
- Unconventional page layouts that don’t follow standard article structures
- Multiple places in close visual proximity on the page
- Images that are decorative or unrelated to any specific place
- Dynamic content that loads after the initial page render
Manual organization after import
After importing a link, you have full control over image placement. Here’s how to organize images:
- Open the place that received images you’d like to reassign.
- Go to the photos section within the place details.
- Select an image, then choose “Move to another place” or “Reassign.”
- Pick the correct destination place from your collection.
You can also remove images that aren’t relevant to any place — for example, stock photos or website banners that were picked up during parsing.
Tips for best results
- Import from well-structured pages. Links from review sites, travel blogs, and listing platforms tend to parse more accurately than general social media posts.
- Import one source at a time. If you’re importing multiple links, process each one and organize the results before moving on to the next.
- Review and adjust. A quick review after import takes only a minute and ensures your places look their best with the right photos attached.
