Views are the backbone of how you organize places in Placify. Think of a view as a custom folder or collection on your map — it groups related places together so you can find them quickly and keep your personal map tidy. You might create a view for an upcoming trip to Tokyo, another for your favorite brunch spots around town, and yet another for hiking trails you want to explore someday.
Types of views
Placify supports different view types depending on how you want to use them:
- Standard views are general-purpose collections. Create as many as you need and group places however you like — by city, by trip, by cuisine, or any other system.
- Trip views are optimized for travel planning. They include extra tools like route creation and day-by-day itineraries.
- Smart views automatically populate based on criteria you set, like all places tagged “coffee” or places visited in the last month.
How to create a view
Creating a view takes just a few taps:
- Open the Views homepage. From the main screen, navigate to your Views tab or homepage where all your existing views are listed.
- Tap the ’+’ button. You’ll find it on the main map view, or in the top-right corner of the Views homepage.
- Choose a view type. Select the type of view you want — standard, trip, or smart — based on how you plan to use it.
- Give your view a name. Pick something descriptive that will help you remember what’s inside. You can always rename it later.
- Start adding places. Once the view is created, you can add places to it right away or come back anytime.
Tips for organizing with views
- Create views for upcoming trips so all your research is in one place when you travel.
- Use descriptive, specific names like “Paris Spring 2026” instead of just “Paris” — it helps when you have multiple views for the same city.
- Don’t be afraid to reorganize. You can move places between views at any time, so your system can evolve as your collection grows.
